Focusing on an alternative approach to the usual concept of middle range Vietnamese urban houses, this project from MM++ Architects combines traditional construction principles with low cost material solutions and fresh design.
Located in Ho Chi Minh City, a residential district of Saigon, Vietmam, this brand new build spans 255 sqm. The dwelling was designed as a family home for a couple with 3 young children, resulting in a contemporary taste throughout but maintaining a practical edge.
The living area is a large open space that flows into the dining room and kitchen, allowing the adults to keep an eye on the children whilst busy at play or with homework, even when cooking the evening meal. There is even a small internal courtyard beneath a skylight along the perimeter of the grand room to bring the beauty of nature into the hub of the home, as well as providing pause between the living area of the home and the bedrooms beyond.
The fantastic house was designed in a high-end style despite a restrictive budget, and because of this the architectural elements were kept simple, utilizing a concrete structure, simple brickwork, ceramic tiles, and a corrugated iron roof layered with insulating material, leaving a substantial budget for top spec gadgetry and furniture.
