Simple colour infusions uplift the reposeful grey and white bases of these two homes, each measuring under 60 square metres. The one bed apartment layouts are thoughtfully arranged to overcome space limitations, and build stylish solutions that feel crisp and cool. Blue is our common theme that links the aesthetic of the pair, though home number one kicks off with a warm yellow welcome. We’ll take a look at space saving furniture, both off-the-peg and bespoke, and a complete set floor plans. We’ll also be confronted with clean minimalist characteristics that prove less is most definitely more, and that it is the blank spaces between pieces that can make the biggest impact.
A warm welcome is extended through a sunshine yellow rug in our first apartment interior, located in Kyiv, Ukraine. Measuring just 56 square metres, this layout features a compact lounge area with only a small modern sofa and a simple round coffee table. The bright accent rug gives the limited area greater presence and personality.
One end of the dining peninsula has a built-in planter, an opportune place for a kitchen herb garden. Abstract art adds interest to a plain white wall.

Stainless steel kitchen cabinets create unique impact in the small living space. They reflect the layout and the light, which helps the room to appear more open. A gold kitchen tap offsets the cold steel.
5 |
A brick feature wall brings some much needed texture to the living room, and creates an atmospheric industrial backdrop for the TV.
6 |
Bifold louvre doors connect the living space with the bedroom.
7 |
In keeping the doors open, the living space is expanded.
8 |
The home entryway is kept clear, except for a chic hour glass vanity stool by a full length mirror with shelf. Glossy doors slide away to reveal a walk-in closet.

The brick wall feature repeats inside the bedroom.

The minimalist bedroom scheme is given a unique touch with the installation of a folded headboard wall.

Royal blue marble strikes colour into the white bathroom.

The unusual piece dominates the simple scheme, and influences linear silhouettes in the rest of the bathroom furniture and sanitaryware.
Our other apartment design has a 52 square metre layout, with a decidedly more sophisticated tilt. A plush blue sofa makes an L-shaped arrangement around a smart set of nesting coffee tables, and a superb feature wall threads light and reflection down the compact living room.

A slatted grey panel adds contemporary flair to a flat TV wall.
18 |
Natural wood and dried pampas grass adds a comforting nature element to the dining room, which complements the beautiful wooden wall feature. A unique dining room chandelier drops halos of light and golden accents over the eating area.
19 |
Soft grey dining chairs join the natural timber table to make a mellow set, and to echo the materials of the adjacent grey and wood tone kitchen.
20 |
Oak flooring connects each room of the home in a cohesive flow.
21 |
An American style fridge-freezer may seem a large choice for a home with limited space, however, the appliance tucks tidily into sleek housing.
22 |
An entryway stool carries through the blue accent colour from the living room sofa.
23 |
The rest of the entryway furniture shies away in shadowy greys.
24 |
Blue wall art brightens up the two-tone grey hallway decor. Around the corner, a unique modern wall sconce illuminates the walkway into the lounge.
25 |
Moving into the bedroom of the apartment, a geometric accent wall makes an eye catching statement. To contrast with the angular wall design, circular pendants adorn the bedroom chandelier.
26 |
Minimalist bedroom pendant lights dangle thinly above the bedside drawer units, glowing down the ribbed grey headboard wall.
27 |
In addition to bedside table lights, perimeter LEDs thread along the ceiling line to highlight the geometric motif. A herringbone throw draws geo pattern to the bed.
28 |
At the foot of the bed we see repetition of the textured gypsum TV wall decor. We also find a neat little vanity setup with a floor to ceiling mirror. A modern grey vanity stool slips elegantly beneath a floating dressing table.
29 |
The closet is revealed from behind obscured glass doors.
30 |
The walk in wardrobe is a generously sized area that fits a dresser on each side of its depth.
31 |
Twin garment rails divide the space absolutely evenly between a couple–or provide just one large hanging space for a single fashion loving homeowner.
32 |
Garment shelves and cupboards make use of vertical space.
33 |
A utility area houses a stacked Bosch washing machine and tumble dryer set.
34 |
Timber cabinets build a made-to-measure aesthetic around the laundry area.
35 |
The rest of the room is dedicated to cloakroom facilities. Marble geometric tiles give the tiny room a high-end luxe look. White marble encloses the toilet cistern.
36 |
The bathroom vanity is a concise wood and black marble piece, wall mounted beneath a simple backlit vanity mirror.
37 |
In the main bathroom, smoky grey marble encases of the bathtub, ending in a stack of bespoke bathroom shelving.
38 |
White marble lightens the rest of the space.
39 |
Wooden elements bring in warmth and nature.

The floor plan demonstrates the indulgent scale of the bedroom walk-in wardrobe, and two valuable closets in the home entryway to boot.
