In this lovely, modern home for a family in Kiev there are not only open, airy places for the entire family to congregate, but also plenty of colorful, cozy retreats for the brood that resides here. Natural elements that include wood and stone work in concert with the bright colors of children's cartoons (especially the Minions) for a house that is truly family friendly for any age. Congrats to the folks at Yo Dezeen for bringing this to us.
The open floor plan in the dining and living room uses long, low lines and muted colors to create a harmonious and sophisticated feel. The children are old enough to cope around the sharp edges of square coffee tables and a contemporary fireplace design, so this area can be a bit more grown up than the spaces we will see further inside.
The master bedroom turns the brightness up just a bit but stays within a mostly neutral realm. A few splashes of raspberry red are just enough to give this classic canopy bed design a modern twist.
The main kid's area is hugely spacious, colorful, and soft. Blue and yellow colors align perfectly with a love for those rascally Minions but are muted just a bit for a more stylish - and less garish - result. Soft, foldable chairs and cushions, cozy reading nooks, and a cool loft space that's only accessible by ladder make this the ultimate hang for older kids.
A more subdued space is this gray and white bedroom. It's a place with plenty of personality, but a lot more subtlety so that kids can go here to relax, rejuvenate, and study without distraction.
This final space is a marriage between the main areas of the house. A lofted sleeping area is perfect for teens while twin workspaces make homework a breeze. But there are still elements of playful childhood in the green grass area rug and more of those cozy cushions.
